Overview:
I am a highly profesional, diverse, and easy to work with musician with an abundance of real-word experience that includes public gigging and private instruction. I graduated on a full scholarship from University of Miami in 2014, the most renowned music school in South Florida and one of the most progressive universities in the country. I've been fortunate enough to perform in many different places and play different styles of music such as the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and the Next Generation Jazz Festival in California.
EXPERIENCE
In additon to teaching my own private students, I have worked at various private and public schools for K-12 level children since 2011. I have also provided master classes at local highschools in the Miami area and more recently have been a private instructor at a music school located in Miami Lakes. I am very invested in the success and interests of my students as a reflection of my own love for music. I format all of my lessons around what they like, their skill level, and what they hope to achieve as they hone their skills.
METHODS USED
When first introduced to a new student, I typically have them play for me to assess their abilities on the instrument as well as their knowledge of general music theory. Once that is done, I am then able to recommend the appropriate materials that work best for the student. For students at any level, I try to see what they are interested in musically and fit time in their development to work on the things that get them excited about music and also help them progress on their instrument. I believe that it is important to continue to work on fundamentals but also keep in mind that music is suppose to be a fun experience which makes it important to work on the things that your passionate about.
LESSON STYLE
It is an indescribable feeling to see a student grow and learn more about the instrument and the music around them. I believe that the more information that someone knows about all aspects of the music the better they will be. It is important to remember the things that inspired you to learn music in the first place. That is why I think it is so important to take into account the interest of the students. It is important to work on the fundamentals of the music and the instrument that you choose but always try to relate it to the things in the music that is close to your heart.
