My name is Marco, I’m a singer, songwriter, and voice teacher. I attended Berklee College of Music, and worked as a performer and teacher in different schools. I’ve been a professional musician for 15 years now, and I’ve been teaching for 10 years. I won national competitions in Italy, performed nationally and internationally in many venues and festivals. I participated to the first season of the italian edition of the X-Factor. I’m originally from Italy, and I’m fluent in English, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese.
I’ve been teaching consistently for 10 years now. I taught all ages, from kindergarten kids to people over 60, kids with special needs, one on one classes, ensembles, full classrooms, and high school. If there's one thing that I learned throughout my career is that very student has a unique voice, so every voice needs to be approached in a unique way. Contemporary music is so diverse, I like to work with songs and styles that the student likes, but also to challenge them to explore outside of their comfort zone. I encourage students to perform, improvise, re-arrange and even create their own songs.
I consider the voice the most interesting instrument, considering how unique every voice is. It is a "living instrument", strongly influenced by so many physical, emotional and psychological factors. In my classes I love to help students exploring their voice beyond the simple concept of learning a melody and repeating it, showing them how to use their instrument at its full potential of musical expression. I like to teach the technique together with the interpretation, going through every musical style. I firmly believe that there is something to learn from every genre, and I think that the listening process is an essential step to find our own personal voice.
My teaching style is fun and engaging. Music has to be a pleasure, both to perform and learn. In my classes even exercises are fun, interesting and stimulating; they're not just some boring tasks, but rather something that the student is actively interested in practicing and learning. I'm very positively honest and realistic with setting goals, and I strongly believe that there's room for improvement for everybody, each one with their own pace. The voice is such a unique instrument, and there's nothing more rewarding that seeing a student grow and learn to discover and love their own personal sound.
