I had two private instructors when I was 15-17. The first was into Jazz, Latin and Afro-Cuban rhythms, and the second was into Reggae and Funk. My second teacher really facilitated my passion for the drums. That training was a great foundation for me.
My curriculum consists of proper match grip technique, the rudiments, limb independency, learning to play with dynamics, and a plethora of beats and fills designed to give the student the necessary tools to become a drum machine. I write out all lessons so that the student has something to refer to once the lesson is over. I am very good at adapting to different personalities because I know from experience that not everyone learns the same way. The most important question to ask is "Are you having fun playing the drums?" It's that simple.
I have been playing the drums for 13 years and been teaching for 5. I've performed hundreds of live shows in 20+ different states and recorded 7 albums. I also do studio sessions for other groups who need drum tracks.
