I'm a passionate instructor who is obsessed the power of music! I concentrate on ways of making your music better. I use my high skills in a lot of different instruments to devise ways of communicating the nature of music to you in a way you can own it and teach it to others. Music is about our ways of interacting with the world and once you understand his basic principles, you will become a better musician no matter your level! With an accent on mindfulness and the handling of the mind in the prospect of learning. Hope to meet you some day!
My teaching started in the final years of high-school. I started teaching trumpet to kids. Once I started college in Buenos Aires(Argentina) in a music composition degree I worked with several masters in a multitude of instruments(violin, flute, trumpet, guitar) which i was able to start teaching and performing live. At the same time I developed a craving for movement practice and martial arts. This 'kinetic' approach allowed me to be much better with my students, analyzing their body and consequently their needs in regards to practice. I studied in college for 5 years and them move to Miami, FL where I now live and hope to thrive as a teacher!
For beginner students we start by grasping the concept that make up music in a practical way. The specific bibliography changes from student to student and form instrument to instrument. In the path of becoming better there's is a lot of resources out there that range from composition to specific theory books. Its just a matter of a personalized attention to the specific needs of the student. I am big into Open Source and No-Copyright material that can be used. At the same time, feel free to show me if your following any methods!
As a base, music is a body-mind experience. A lot of what makes music enjoyable to us has to do with our bodies and the natural way in which we react to rhythms and pitches. My teaching style points into the proprioception on how music impacts us. We will work with different exercises which allow us to see, not in a technical way but in a 'real knowing', the how's and whys of how certain music sounds like itself. The rules that govern instrument skill and music skill are one and the same and with the right mind-connection we will bring the power to yield the music's own energy!
