I am passionate about singing. Whether I do it or someone else is doing it. I have been so lucky to study voice with some of the worlds greatest singers AND teachers. It only makes sense that I should pass on the knowledge that I have learned to others...So they can reach their goals! Ever since I graduated from UCF I have been a working as a teacher. Passing on knowledge is a gift. If you have the knowledge it is your responsibility to pass it on to a student. Especially if it is a passion!
My teaching experience is grounded in my performance experience. How can you have one without the other? I have performed in more than 28 roles including Falstaff in Otto Nicolai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor, Germont in La Traviata, Valentin in Faust, Belcore in L’elisir d’amore, Schaunard in La Bohème, Wolfram in Tannhäuser, Malatesta in Don Pasquale, Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro, Silvio in I Pagliacci, Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana and Sharpless in Madama Butterfly. I have also crossed over as a musical theater singer as Emile de Becque in South Pacific and Lancelot in Camelot.
Learn how to make a secure beautiful sound. We will talk about the basics of singing…Breathing, support, and shaping a proper vowel. To be a secure singer, you need to develop beauty, quality, and healthy production of the tone throughout the voice. We will work on proper breathing, support (they are different), “placement of the voice”, verticality of the sound and vowel modification. Although proper singing is similar for everyone it isn’t exactly the same for everyone. That’s why you need a teacher with a good ear. Then we can apply what we learn technically to the music that you sing.
My teaching style is based on the goals of the student. If you are a junior high or high school student preparing for musical theater in your school or for community theater productions I can help. If you are a high school student who is thinking about majoring in voice at a college or university or conservatory and you need preparation in vocal technique, song literature and proper language diction I can help. If you are preparing for a Masters program or making the transition to a semi professional or professional career I can help you with your technique, if you feel you need some corrections, repertoire selections, and bridging the gap from student to the business world.
