Overview:
My life's work has been focused on my enthusiastic and passionate approach to music. I started piano lessons when I was 5 years old, and have studied and played the guitar since I was 10 years old. I have a specific appreciation for the skills required to play instruments on professional recordings. I started my own recording studio when I was 18 years old, and have been making records ever since. I have sang and played a variety of instruments on many recordings, including acoustic and electric guitar, bass, pedal steel, banjo, mandolin, ukelele, piano, and organ. I am most passionate about the guitar. My teaching studio is a full, professional recording studio, which allows me to utilize recording tools and reference music samples easily for my students.
EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching guitar for over 5 years. I started teaching my peers when I was 15, and started teaching regularly while in college. I have taught students of all skill levels. Many of my students show improvement immediately, and due to their satisfaction, typically continue lessons for multiple years. I love teaching because I understand a variety of different learning styles, and I greatly enjoy learning how to teach each new student most effectively.
METHODS USED
I tailor my curriculum to each student based on their learning style, skill level, interests, and goals. If the student is a beginner, we will start with fundamentals. I then create more rewarding lessons as soon as possible, working in the fundamentals in a more enjoyable and musical way. If the student is more advanced, we will work on pursuing their goals and filling in any gaps in their understanding. For every skill level, I focus on teaching consistent and healthy practice techniques to avoid any physically taxing habits and lay the foundation for a longevous musical journey.
LESSON STYLE
My main focus is on reaching the student, and fostering their love of music. I am adamant about instilling in students the genuine excitement and desire to pick up their instrument and practice. This is the most important lesson and will never leave a student. I do this largely by integrating what a student needs to learn in order to excel into what they want to learn, and I have had great success with this method.
