Full Sail University: BS Music and Media Production
.
I have been playing music since age 11 starting on the drums and by middle school I started playing the alto saxophone in the band and picked up piano in the process. A few years after high school I obtained my degree in music and media production and started teaching. I have a passion for all aspects of music from learning to performing and I am skilled at multiple instruments with saxophone and piano being my two majors. I have produced a music project for a record label called Dim The Lights Records from Lafayette and the music is available at any online music site. I have set up a small home studio that accommodates two students and is equipped for production.
My teaching philosophy is “theory first” which means the basics must be mastered. Once the basics are mastered then the student can easily move forward with a greater success rate at mastering their craft and discipline. My methods of teaching are based on the individual student. Each student is given all tools needed to accomplish their personal goals. Additionally each student is given the opportunity to give constant feedback on their level of progress and suggestions on how to enhance their learning experience.
.
I have a strong love to teach and don’t mind teaching anyone who possesses the will to learn. My approach to teaching involves the individual student and their dominant learning preference. All lesson plans and materials are customized to each students learning strengths. I give students the opportunity to showcase what they already know about their craft and discipline. This data is then used to build and expand their foundation giving them the best chance of success. Their advancement is determined through performance and verbal recitals. After advancing to higher levels, students are encouraged to continue refreshing themselves on previously mastered materials with specific emphasis on the basics.
