I am passionate about teaching as well as performing. My night job includes performing as a classical pianist at Cavey's Italian Restaurant in Manchester, CT on Saturday nights every other month. I also am the keyboardist in the alternative modern rock band, Perfect Fate. We are on Facebook as Perfect Fate. My main song that has been released on Itunes and Amazon is "Atmosphere." I was able to incorporate my writing style and also my knowledge of guitar, though it is not my sole instrument.
My teaching experience dates back to my high school years. I started teaching at the age of 14. Being a piano instructor was one of the best jobs I ever took on. I am very passionate about music. It calms the soul, relieves stress, and has been proven to improve brain function. I taught all the way through high school, then took a break in college. I majored in Information and Library Science and took several music courses to acquire a minor, Chorus, Guitar 1, Women in Western Music, Audio 101, and continued to perform on main instrument, piano. I have been playing piano for 15 years. I have been playing violin for the same amount of time also. I mainly focus on giving piano instructions, but am willing to teach violin as well. Music is what unites us and gives us peace. It helps us in our daily living. I strive to make it a goal, for families to be able to receive piano lessons at a reasonable price because music is important. I am open to all ages all the way starting at the age of 7 to the age of 80. Always believe in yourself. The greatest musicians never give up. It takes a lot of hard work and discipline. This is what I have taught my students when gave piano instruction. References of students I taught are available by request.
I teach strictly by the John Thompson Book Series, Grade 1, Grade 2, and Advanced level. I also make it a goal for the student to learn one major classical piece throughout the course of instruction: "Fur Elise" by Beethoven, or "Moonlight Sonata: 1st Movement" by Beethoven. You will learn how to sight-read and also how to notate. If you want learn how to write your music I can help with that too. I am a co-writer for the band Perfect Fate. I am also the keyboardist in the band. It is Alt.-Rock.
Teaching is something I am passionate about. Out of all my jobs, this is the most rewarding because I am able to pass on my knowledge to another so that they may reach their highest potential. My goal is to find the talent inside you, and once found, we work to grow the talent, so you may be a successful pianist and/or violinist. I always tell my students that "practice makes perfect." There is no way out of it. Even when you do reach technical perfection, you can though go on to interpret classical pieces with your inner feeling. Practice teaches us discipline, but it also helps us grow as individuals.
