ABOUT
Degrees / Training / Special Info:

Bachelor's Degree in performance from The New England Conservatory of Music in Boston

Overview:

I have over 30 years of teaching and professional experience.  Piano is my first instrument, but I also have a degree in percussion.

For piano: I have studied with Charlie Banacos, a music master from the New England area for 11 years.

For percussion: I have studied with Vic Firth, timpanist of the Boston Symphony and also Alan Dawson, jazz drummer.

EXPERIENCE

For percussion, I have performed with many star attractions like Aretha Franklin, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Jr. and Joni Mitchell, to name a few.

METHODS USED

For piano I use a combination of the Bastien books, if you are a beginner.  For more intermediate or advanced I use whatever music the student is interested in.  It could be the Great American Songbook or classical music.

For percussion, for beginners I use the Garwood Whaley book, Fundamentals for the Snare Drum. For drum set I use the Syncopation Book by Ted Reed and a variety of other books depending on the need.

LESSON STYLE

My lesson style is patient yet challenging.  I believe each student is an individual each with her/his own needs.  I don't use a 'cookie-cutter' type of teaching.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
