Statement of Eligibility in World Language
Hello my name is Max and I live in Tampa Bay. I have been involved with music for as long as I can remember and it has surrounded my life since I was a child. I started in violin and switched to double bass when I was a teenager. I study with many qualified and professional teachers in the local music community in Tampa. My teachers are known bassists in orchestras and composers. I then went into studying music at USF here in Tampa. I recently graduated from music school and I would love to spend my days teaching and spreading my love of music.
Since I dedicated myself to music I have always sought out opportunities to perform and play on my instrument. I have played extensively in the Tampa Bay area and have played many genres from Classical to Jazz to Rock to Bluegrass. Through this I have amassed many students and I have been teaching people of all ages bass and more recently violin and viola. I now work in several music stores and I have adapted nicely to my role as a music teacher. I really enjoy it and I strive to make my students enthusiastic and passionate about whatever music they want to study and play.
For my students I prefer an individualistic approach. I try to appraise their abilities and listen to them to hear what their goals are for music and their respective instrument. I do want my students to have a solid grasp of their instrument and harmony so I try to find ways of incorporating theory into lessons. I assign pieces and homework to assist them in bettering their technique and knowledge of the instrument. I believe each person is different and a teacher needs to custom make their lessons for the needs of the individual.
My teaching style is tailor made and unique for each student. I am a very caring and patient teacher and I genuinely want my students to live and excel at music. I always enjoy listening to my students and hearing what they have to say about music. I want our lessons to be a teaching opportunity for the student as well as for myself. I want my students to tell me their goals and I will do my best to help them try to achieve them. I tend to go at my student’s pace and I will give my students the same level of energy that they put into the instrument.
