District honor choir overall winner
I’m a very fun and passionate musician. I tried to inspire my students by creating easy and concise piano and vocal warm-ups. I’ve been in course ever since I was five years old in my hometown elementary school I audition for honor choir in fourth grade and got in. We perform classical pieces as well as school appropriate pop pieces. I joined band in six grade and chose to trumpet as my primary instrument and have been playing ever since. I’m currently at school studying to be an audio engineer so I can make semester my music anytime I please. I’ve been playing the piano for about three years now and have been in school and piano classes for over a year. My primary goal as a music teacher is to make sure that students are having fun but also understanding the music theory behind everything.
My teaching experience really doesn’t go back far. I just been hired locally around my neighborhood to teach their kids piano and voice. My taking style though is very straight to the point and either easy to understand for example if I were to teach a student C major scale I would teach them the proper hand positions first then I would teach them the notes of the scale and how they correlate to the piano. I wouldn’t show them a penta scale which is a five note scale consisting of the notes CDEFG. I would them teach them the cord that goes along with that scale.
For beginning students I really tried to start with some basic music theory example for the notes of the piano I would have them get one of the learning time piano books and have them fill in each note of where they correlate. For example if I were to teach someone again the C major scale. I would start by telling them the notes in the scale and then have them repeat to me what I just taught them once they got the notes down and they know where they are on the piano I can teach them the proper hand positions to play the scale. Then we would just play the scale over and over again until it feels like second nature.
I try to encourage everyone being at their own pace because everybody learns differently and you can’t really put pressure on a kid that doesn’t work the same way as another. I would make sure I would have concise lesson plans for every single student that chose to take lessons with me. My main goal is just to share my love of music and hope every kid one day has the same passion that I do. I hope to be the person to make that kid have passion for music because it truly is a wonderful thing it helps so many physically and mentally.
