I am a singing voice specialist who is trained in diagnosing and correcting vocal pathologies. I have found great success in helping singers of all ages and abilities free their voices and gain control of producing a sustainable and authentically stylized sound. In 2004, I graduated from Westminster Choir College with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education with a voice principal. After that, I continued my studies in the field of vocology at the Voice Institute of Speech Language Pathologist and Singing Voice Specialist Dr. Anat Keidar. I have been teaching in schools and in my private studio since 2004. Instructing vocalists is my passion and your vocal success is extremely important to me.
Choral conducting and teaching sight singing began for me in high school. I opened my first private voice studio upon graduating in 2004. I am also a choral conductor and music theory teacher and have over ten years of experience there as well. It has been so neat to see my students go out and find success in the wide world of music. Many exceed the expectation they initially set for themselves. Some are booking gigs at large venues opening for big name artists, others are pursuing careers in music and are getting into schools they never thought possible, others are finally gaining the courage to perform in public, etc. We all seek out voice training for different reasons and it gives me great pleasure be able to assist each singer with his/her personal goals in a way that is individualized, engaging, and exciting!
Helping a singer build solid vocal technique is an organic process that unfolds as each singer presents his vocal strenghths, weaknesses, and learning styles. Everything I ask a student to do is based on the anatomy and psysiology of their vocal instrument. It is my goal to help singers understand and gain control over the many working parts that are involved in the singing process. I am a hands on, creative teacher who will do whatever it takes to help students unlock their true vocal potential. I use mirrors, manipulatives, live recordings of lessons, anotomical videos, movement, laryngeal massage and manipulation, etc. to assist my singers in finding vocal freedom.
Vocal metamorphosis is my goal for each singer. I guide singers to achieve that in a warm, honest, fun loving, and diligent way. Singers leave each lesson with a practice journal where goals for the week are clearly noted. I care deeply about my students and am thrilled that many of them who have moved away still contact me to share their successes or to seek advice.
