I am a music teacher who is passionate about music and teaching. For the past eight years, I have enjoyed working with students of all ages and levels. In 2014, I graduated from college earning my BA in Music Education. Along with teaching, I enjoy playing piano at church and using my talents for the Lord.
I began teaching piano over eight years ago. Throughout my four years at college I taught piano, voice, music theory, and led junior high choir. With each lesson I strive to encourage my students and keep them motivated to learn.My experiences have taught me that there is nothing more rewarding than sharing my love of music and helping others grow as musicians.
For begining students who are under the age of thirteen, I prefer to start with Bastien's Piano Basics. This series comes with four different books (Technic, Piano, Performance, and Theory) that give the student a well rounded lesson. For students over the age of thirteen, I like to use Alfred's Basic Piano Course. This series has a more mature song selection, a variety of genres, includes music theory, and has piano excercises. No matter what age or level, I strive to keep each lesson exciting and rewarding
Throughout my years of teaching, I've obsereved, everyone learns differetly and at different paces. Knowing this, I try to set practical goals for my students each lesson. I encourage each of them to advance by teaching them certain songs they love, have them listen to more piano music, and take them to piano concerts. By using these methods, I have seen students become inspired and motivated to learn. I believe that piano lessons should not only be educational but fun and exciting as well.
