I am a graduate of The Manhattan School of Music, earning both my Bachelor and Master of music degrees. I have performed as a recitalist, in operas and as soloist with orchestra. I have performed locally and abroad, specifically the many Halls at Lincoln Center, The United States Capitol, and in the Rudulfinum Hall in Prague. I love performing and teaching. I have been a dedicated teacher for many years and I enjoy seeing my students grow musically. I was the director of Music at Saints John and Paul school in Larchmont as well. While there, the students and I performed many successful concerts. The children also enjoyed learning the art of singing and how to read music. I am a passionate musician and I believe in the power of music to heal, create joy and to bring people together. I enjoy my work immensely and consider it a blessing and privilege to do what I do.
I am a professional performer with many years of stage experience. I have taught privately for 14 years. I have also taught classes full of students in ten different grades. I create a fun and comfortable environment for my students and always encourage them to believe in themselves and enjoy their performances. I teach my students how to read music and how to tap beats as well. I also work privately with many students who would like to enter competitions and/ or auditions. I love helping them to prepare for recitals and concerts as well. I like for all of my students to feel comfortable and to know that they can perform well in any situation. I teach them how to enjoy performing. I believe that is very important.
I like to teach lessons that are fun and engaging. It is important to me that my students feel relaxed and comfortable with expressing themselves musically. I beginning with yoga, stretching and deep breathing. Breathing is the most important, so I like to teach my students how to breathe organically and free from stress in their body. I move onto vocal warm ups that stretch my student’s range and engage all of the wonderful resonances of that students sound. When practicing a piece, I like to work on the expression of the piece, phrasing, where to breathe and my student’s performance of the piece.
My style is relaxed, confident and detailed. I am passionate about the music and love to see my students enjoying the art of expressing themselves and communicating through song. I begin each lesson with yoga, strand deep breathing. I believe that the body should be as free from stress as possible and that my student’s breathing should be as natural and organic as possible. The same applies to vocal warmups , where I focus on releasing tension from the jaw, face , neck, shoulders, abs and hips. During the practicing is a piece, I like for my students to feel empowered to use the tools that we’ve learned to perform with the best expression and best sound that is possible.
