I’ve had a passion for music my entire life and specialize in helping others foster their passion for music as well. I’ve been playing the cello for more than 20 years and enjoy the fact that music is a lifelong journey. I’m currently part of the Orchestra Collective of Orange County and participate in online music competitions and showcases. I love the Suzuki method because of the, ‘Every Child Can’ belief Dr. Suzuki held. Every child can absolutely learn to play the cello when given the opportunity and the patience of an encouraging teacher. I particularly enjoy helping others on their musical journey providing a holistic approach to each and every student. Everyone learns differently and taking a ‘one size fits all’ approach will leave many students unhappy and/or feeling as though they don’t have the talent to play cello. Learning is unique to each individual thereby requiring a tailored approach and lesson plan ensuring that the student is able to reach their highest potential. For the best outcome, I recommend a free trial lesson to determine if there is synergy between parent, teacher and student. Just as you wouldn’t buy a car before a test drive, the same applies to finding a music teacher. Try meeting with a few different teachers to determine your best fit. Adult beginners are welcome too!
I began my journey to become a Suzuki teacher in 2021 and can teach levels 1-10 which means I can assist students from the beginner level to the advanced level. The Suzuki method has taught me that talent isn't innate and can be taught - with enough time and effort any student can achieve the level they wish. It is my job and my goal to help the student discover where they want to take their musical journey and help build the skills to get them there. I am a firm believer in the fact that anyone can make beautiful music!
I use the Suzuki method with all students, however, supplemental material is also used as the student ages and moves through the repertoire. As the student begins to explore their instrument and experiment with different styles, techniques, and repertoire I help guide the student along their musical journey and teach the student the necessary skills to successfully perform/play the piece. Perfection isn't necessary but a good grasp on the concepts and skills that are used across different pieces and applied to repertoire that is picked up in the future.
It's important to move at the student's pace - whatever speed that may be. It's important to build a solid foundation but that doesn't necessarily mean mastery or perfection. It's easy to lose interest if stuck on one piece to long so we'll move through the material as quickly or as slowly as the student desires as long as the foundation is there. Supplementary material is worked in as well to keep things interesting and each lesson unique and fun. I hope to keep the student engaged and eager to continue their studies beyond their school aged years.
