Overview:
Music has always been the biggest thing in my life. Having come from a very musical family, everyone either sang or played an instrument (usually both). My first singing debut was in Brussels, Belgium at the tender age of 3! I began singing in churches all over America at the age of 6, recorded my first album at 10 and began leading worship at the age of 15, when I also recorded my 2nd CD. I began teaching others piano and voice when I was a teenager since I had already had 10 years of training and experience performing in front of thousands of people. I LOVE children (I have 5 of my own and one on the way!) and love how music opens up all kinds of creativity, emotions and imagination in them. Having done 15 European concert tours and been all over the states, the one thing we all share on this planet is a love for MUSIC. Indeed it is the INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE and I am BLESSED to be able to share it with the world!
EXPERIENCE
As mentioned, I began teaching in my teenage years and to this day, it is one of my greatest passions. Equipping someone with new ways to express their love for music and emotions inside is absolutely thrilling to me! While i have mostly taught private lessons, I have also taught for a couple different music companies as well and had great success with my students! I find it very easy to “find the connection” right off the back with my students and they seem to respond very well to my personality and teaching styles.
METHODS USED
PIANO STUDENTS: For beginners, I prefer the Bastien series. I like a lot of variety but am very careful to not give too much at once. It is better to become excellent at each thing slowly, than try to do a lot and not be that good at any of it. I am a stickler for starting out with scales and theory right away. Understanding rhythm right
away is of utmost importance as well. I ALSO TEACH IN PATTERNS & NUMBERS over just notes, this way, one can play any piece in any key much easier! I will paint mental pictures that will help my students to never forget what Im teaching. (Oh and they will BEGIN using both hands). For more advanced students, again, the more variety the better. Depending on what the student’s goals are, I will draw from a wide range of selections. I always make it a point to show my students how to play by ear AND by sight. When you know how to do both, the possibilities are limitless! If a student is wanting help learning how to write a song, that is my specialty as well. I have helped a LOT of people perfect their material.
VOICE STUDENTS: After discovering the students strengths and/or weaknesses, I custom create a series of vocal exercises & songs to help develop their talent. I first offer the student the chance to select which songs they want o learn and make their own. If they dont know which songs they want to learn, after learning the students interests and musical inspirations, I will suggest songs to work on, then teach them step by step how to make the songs their own and perform them with confidence and excellence.
LESSON STYLE
Music was created to be ENJOYABLE (meaning it "brings IN JOY" to our souls) - therefore everything about it should be just that! My teaching style is much like my personality - Fun, laid back, with a good balance of buckling down when needed, joyful & a perfectionist. I will push my students gently & encourage them to learn the styles THEY want in a very professional and multi-faceted way. Having worked with thousands of kids & teenagers, I've learned that charisma is contagious & when given the proper tools & support, they can do exceedingly & abundantly more than what they (or I) could ever imagine!

Melody has been teaching my 10 year old daughter for several months now. She is always on time and they really accomplish alot in the lessons. My daughter is REALLY enjoying how much she is learning and not resisting her practice time, as she did in the past (however we are working on her still practicing more.) I'm anxious to see how much more she learns over time with Melody. :)
