I have spent the last 20 plus years educating myself in precaution. My goal is to take my life experiences and skill in percussion and translate it into teachable take meeks. That I can in turn teach to my students. My goal as a instructor is to teach my students techniques that will last tham a lifetime.
I have been a musician for approximately 20 years I love teaching others what I have learned. I started my career as a musician in 1993 with a group call the drums of thunder in Paterson New Jersey. That was known as a blue ribbon school of perform arts. I carry with me the passion and inspiration. And I feel that it is my duty to pass on that passion and inspiration to all of my students. So that they too will pass it on to everyone they come in contact with. All I need from a student is the passion and drive to learn.
I am extremely passionate about music. I enjoy watching the light bulb come on in the eyes of my students when they figured out a specific technique or concept how excited they get. I truly enjoy the process of taking a student from where they are with their technique and knowledge to where they want to be and beyond. I've been teaching for 15 years and in that time I have taught quite a diverse and varied mixture of students over the ears. My goal has always been to teach my students techniques that will last them a lifetime.
All of my students have the same basic foundation. On top of that foundation we add in specific tutorials geared towards the type of music that they want to plat. We identify key elements and styles within that genre of music that their interest in. Then I construct a specific lesson plan geared towards that particular style. This is part of my process because understanding what specific style they prefer to learn. It makes it easier to stay consistent when learning something you'er excited about.
I approach teaching in the perspective of a student. What I would like to learn. How much fun will it be to learn that specific technique. How long will it take me to learn that technique. And after I've learned it what can I do with that technique to impress my friends and family. As an instructor I enjoy helping to facilitate the spark of wonder. In my Students because I know once they have that spark ignited they will want to continue to learn different styles and genre. And that desire to learn will make them better musicians.
