Master Degree: Academy of Art University
I graduated from the renowned Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music Conservatory Performing Arts Bachelor Program in Istanbul/Turkey. After my graduation, I studied Sound Design at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. I have worked on projects, from performances & studio recording sessions to podcasting, and sound for films. I'm also a co-founding member of the EVA String Quartet, a female string quartet that performs both classical and Turkish music arrangements. Looking forward to meeting with you! :)
I began teaching piano and violin lessons 15 years ago and have been consistently teaching ever since. Encouraging daily practice, and helping the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument is one of the key points. While enjoyment is the number one rule, following their development and progress with certain method books are really important. I encourage my students to compose their own original material as well as participate in certification exams and recitals. Thus, while they are feeling good about their success, they are also motivated. I am always open and excited to teach new students of all ages and levels.
For beginning students who are children, I have a wide range of method books such as Alfred's Basic Piano, Bastien Piano basic Method and/or John Thompson's piano course. When my student started to understand the basics of the instrument, we begin to create their repertoire with the songs they are interested in and suitable for their level. For my adult students, I try to find out what they are interested in and guide my teaching accordingly to make lessons exciting and fun, regarding their skill level.
It is an invaluable feeling to see my students grow a passion for music, to watch their progress, and to contribute to their learning. I encourage this with realistic goals by supporting each one of my students to progress at their own pace. I aim to help my students increase their desire to progress, by appreciating their success, and by trying to find out what inspires them, I can tailor my teaching to their wants and needs. I aim to create an environment in which all my students feel safe to create and build confidence in performing their instruments.
