I'm a passionate teacher and performer who is motivated to work with students and get them where they want to go with their playing. I went to school in Philadelphia where I studied with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and I have graduated from Temple University with a MM in Music Performance. I perform regularly with orchestras around the area and I record music for NFL Films. I have had the opportunity to tour China as well as perform with orchestras in Italy and Austria. My goal is to always keep students engaged and enthusiastic with their playing and to make it challenging and fun at the same time.
I have 5 years of teaching experience which started when I was in college. I taught for a Saturday morning program they have for middle and high school students. In that program, I taught private bass lessons as well as theory classes consisting of 30 students each. Privately, I have taught students ranging from 10 to 75 years old. I have found that every student enjoys the instrument in a different way. It is my job to harness that and engage them with what they love and the technique they are going to need to get there.
Beginning bass players will start with The Simandl Method regardless if Electric or Double Bass. This book has been the standard for decades and continues to help players find the foundation for their playing. As the student progresses we will start to add appropriate pieces for them to learn and perform. Electric players and Upright players can start choosing songs or pieces they want to learn. We will work with that so they feel they are accomplishing goals they want to accomplish and learning pieces they want to learn.
It is my duty to make sure the student is always engaged and enthused. The student always comes first. My method of teaching needs to be flexible so that I can give each student my all so they can perform at their very best. By finding out what a students goal is, I can craft my teaching so that they get the maximum amount of information from me. All while making sure any and all improvements and accomplishment are noticed so they can see their progress and have it affirmed so they feel that they are going places.
