Bachelor of Arts, Wayne State University, Major in Music
I have been performing since age 7 playing classical piano in recitals with my sister. I got my first guitar at the age of 12. At 15 I was playing around town with different bands. After years of playing in garage bands, I applied to Wayne State University and enrolled in their music department. I have a variety of musical experiences to draw from which is a benefit to my students.
Over the years I have done everything from playing in the local "Battle of The Bands", opening for rocker Marshall Crenshaw with my band "Café Society" and playing with jazz great Vincent York at The Montreux Detroit Jazz Festival. I have been teaching for over 20 years and really enjoy teaching and helping others, whether they want to play for their own enjoyment.
After we figure out what you want to learn, I'll help you develop your skills so that you can play rock, blues, jazz or even learn how to solo. I believe that all my students have the ability to express themselves to some degree on the guitar, my goal is to help them as best I can, using my experience and knowledge of the instrument.
Whether you just want to play for your own enjoyment or you want to eventually play professionally, I can help. My teaching style is designed around the needs of each student. My goal is to encourage and inspire my students at every lesson and to encourage them to believe in themselves. I try to listen carefully to my students so that I can understand and help them reach their goals.
