Bachelor Degree: Berklee College of Music
I'm experienced teacher who can work with students of all ages, and have been teaching since 2008. I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2013, with a degree in Songwriting. I have played in bands and ensembles of many different genres, but as much as I love playing, I also love writing. My experiences have created the opportunity the become adept at writing and performing in many different styles. Most recently, I've been composing music for video games, with several songs being published in a recent game.
Teaching has been one of my passions since I've been playing music. It started with teaching friends how to play Metallica songs as a teenager, and has evolved into teaching my students how to write and perform their own music. I welcome students of all ages, whether you are just looking to learn songs, or learning how to write, or learning the nuts and bolts behind the theory of music, I have the tools to help you reach your goals. I offer my students the chance to record their own music to showcase their work and progress in their lessons.
I like to tailor my lesson plans to the student, and their individual needs. For younger, new students, I like to teach technique, and classic songs, while teaching the early stages of theory, and music reading. For intermediate students, I like to drill scales, harmony, and sight reading techniques, to advance their own skills. If you are looking to apply to music school, I do prep courses on what to expect from the audition process, and what to look for when you apply. I'm happy to accommodate to whatever you are looking for in your lessons!
I'm a big believer in personal goals and achievements. I like to ask my students what they hope to accomplish from their lessons, and tailor my lesson plan to meet their goals. My biggest concern is keeping the instrument fun for the student, and not letting it feel like a chore. I feel that a student is most likely to excel when they experience joy from their instrument, so to help keep the instrument fresh, I like to provide exercises that are challenging and rewarding, in addition to the regular curriculum.
