I am a friendly, easy going musician and teacher with a passion for not only music, but helping others succeed in their musical ventures and desires. I picked up my first guitar at the age of 13 and have been hooked since! I recently graduated in December 2016 from the University of Alabama with a BA in Management. Luckily, my time at UA allowed me to expand my music hobby into a way of life as I have been in several successful musical acts and bands over my time as student. This only fueled my passion for music even more as I was exposed to the touring and performing aspects. I am excited and eager to help others learn so they can experience the magic and fun of making music!
My teaching experience began a long time ago, back when I had played guitar and other instruments for only some period of time. From showing licks and musical parts to other players to giving short lessons to friends and family members looking to learn. I have always enjoyed teaching music on all levels whether it's casual or serious! I technically started teaching lessons a few months ago to a family friend who has showed progressive advancement much to my surprise. I really found that I enjoy teaching just as much as playing and am eager to have more students. With nearly 10 years of playing experience, I am fully capable of meeting your needs! The most important thing is that you are having fun and enjoying yourself. That's what music is always about. I will never be cutthroat, but will definitely push and work for you to get better. The biggest takeaway from teaching is it's always a learning experience from the other side as well. I thoroughly enjoy it.
No matter the ability level, the plan of attack is to keep the lessons fun, productive, and furfilling. For beginners, we will stick to fundamentals and essential elements that will give you an edge to succeed and develop. After I see progression, I plan to dig into more advanced elements that will keep your interest. This is really where the students will see results. For intermediate to advanced musicians/learners, I plan to take it up a notch and challenge the students while keeping it fun and attainable. It is all based on the student's interest and where they would like to be as a player. No matter what, it will always be a pleasurable experience as I plan to really connect with students, build long-lasting relationships, and be there for guidance at any point in time.
The one thing I want to see is for my students to succeed and build a passion for music! This being said, I will always make sure the student is happy with my teaching style and how the lessons are going. Communication will be key as we will set both realistic short-term and long-term goals, acknowledge accomplishments, anf tailor to the wants of each student. I plan to push each student to the top of their abilities so they can be the best they can be. After all, that it the ultimate goal! Finding out student's interests and aspirations is a key to my teaching style as I will get to know the student and find out their "learning style".
