Overview:
I have a great and sincere love of all things music.  I have devoted my life to private studio teaching for over 10 years.  I had the opportunity to study voice and opera at the San Francisco Conservatory and The Boston Conservatory.  After a number of years as a professional singer, I returned to school to complete my degree.  I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Performance from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, Ca.  Professional engagements have been in opera, musical theatre, and concert. I have been featured in solo concert appearances in Boston Symphony Hall, San Francisco's Alcazar and Cable Car Theatres, New York's Alice Tully Hall and Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall.   In 2007, I was Quarter-Finalist on season 2 of NBC's America's Got Talent.  I returned for season 3 where I was advanced to the Semi-Finals appearing before an audience of 12 million viewers each week.
EXPERIENCE
As stated above, I have been teaching and coaching private voice for over 10 years.   I have been in demand as Vocal and Music Director for numerous community musical theatre productions.   I have enjoyed working with students age 8 to 78. I am well-versed in classical, musical theatre and popular repertoire.   The most important thing to note is that I believe there is ONE healthy and safe way to sing.  We just learn to color our sound to meet stylistic needs. As a performer, I have numerous musical theatre and operatic roles, concerts, and television credits.
METHODS USED
My focus is simple - as simple as possible in this art form. Healthy Signing * Understanding of how you produce the sounds in your body. This is not ONLY focused on the science of voice, but through imagery. It is vital for students to create THEIR own mental image - not what I say. * Breath - We have to breathe, otherwise we would fall over and pass out! My ideas about breath a VERY different from the concepts of support. * Appropriate repertoire - Students will need to apply the vocalising skills from the "technique" part of the lessons, and this is done - of course - using repertoire. I believe in creative options for repertoire - but it is important that all selections are age, vocally, and stylistically appropriate. Confidence *We all struggle with confidence in our personal and artistic lives. It is my JOB to help my students find the best of themselves. Fun *My method of singing has to involve laughter...I mean...why not!
LESSON STYLE
I believe EVERYONE has the ability to sing.  Some voices will go on to do big things, and some will help to build confidence in their everyday lives. I grew up with loving and compassionate teachers and family members.  It's my job as a human being to offer that same level of respect and compassion. Students are encouraged to set their own goals.  I do NOT believe it demanding students to practice on a schedule I create.  Types of students that have represented my studio in the past: * Classical Singers * Musical Theatre Performers (professional) * Community Theatre Performers * Pageant Contestants * KARAOKE Singers (MANY contest winners) * High School Students preparing for college programs and auditions (CAP-22, USC, NYU, Boston Conservatory, Carnegie Mellon, among others) * Retirees I feel that what makes me a fantastic option as a teacher is my equal love for the art of singing and performance AND for teaching, as well.

It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
