As a music instructor I strive to help my students learn as much as possible while harvesting a love of their instrument and the music they play on it. I graduated from the University of North Florida in 2009 with a Bachelor's in Music Performance. I have been teaching music for ten years, and learned from some of the best at my time in college. I have had the oppurtunity to play Carnagie Hall, tour the country, and perform witha multitude of different acts.
I started teaching in 2008 while still studying at the University of North Florida. Most of my expierence is with children between the ages of 5-13, though I have taught much older as well. The real joy I get from teaching is when the student begins to love what they are doing. Any instrument can be difficult at first but once a love of music is combined with the student's instrument, the greatest strides will be made.
In any lesson with me the studeent will be working on technique, ear training, learning music, and learning to play with other people(or "jamming"). The "jamming" section always keep the lessons fun and informative, and teach the student how to play music with other people. And as always, I encourage all of my students to bring in music they enjoy, so that we can work on learning it together.
While I encourage regular practice, I understand that music lessons are not the only thing going on in the students life. The last thing I want to do is create an enviorment in the lesson based soley on home practice. I want these lessons to be fun and engaging, and as such we will learn practice techniques to keep it that way.
