I'm a soulful and dedicated instructor who enjoys sharing and working with students who love music the same way I do. In 2010 I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Professional Music. I've had the opportunity to share the stage with some of the most significant and legendary artists in the Latin scene. I've had the privilege of performing at the Latin Billboards in Miami, as well as singing in Turkey with the Istanbul State Symphonic Orchestra.
My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lesson when I graduated. I have been consistently involved in teaching students, both in my home studio as private instructor and as a part of the program Learning On Stage in which I perform and share different Latin-American music styles to teach students from high school and middle school. I encourage my students to regularly practice and to a set schedule because I think that’s the key to progress, which leads to gaining passion for the instrument. Most of the repertoire is of personal choice, although there's always some recommendations I suggest. Creativity and original material is also very important and very welcomed.
For beginning students I typically start with breathing techniques and an explanation of the anatomy of the instrument. Vocal warm ups according to the skill level will be in every lesson, as well as repertoire. I always find out what the student is interested in, and work accordingly to keep it interesting and fun.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing my students engaged and developing a passion for singing and music. It's important to set real and specific goals so the progress can be noticeable, working at each students pace. I find encouragement and acknowledgment of accomplishments is essential when I teach. It's all about connecting and finding out what inspires the student so I can tailor the lesson to their wants and needs.
