Overview:
My passion, discipline and determination to be professional at all costs helped me to graduate from BIT, and Pasadena Music Academy, and immerse myself into the music scene as a gifted multi instrumentalist concentrating on bass. I can sight read, play by ear, arrange music, and play any style or genre. I have toured with international artists who have inspired me to continue performing throughout my life.
EXPERIENCE
I started teaching private students for years when I graduated. When I moved to New York I moved to teaching in schools, namely Dr. Trogans School of Music and Bennette Music School over a period of at least 10 years. Now I continue to teach privately in Florida.
METHODS USED
For beginners I like to start with using John W. Schaum's Music book as well as helping them to learn basic music theory in order to be able to keep time and know how to read music. I help them to know their music scales so that they know them by heart when playing music. I also inspire my students to join recitals in school as well as encourage them to practice daily as well as play with others. For adult students I try to find their skills. Once I know they have passed beginner skills we can investigate their methods of playing as well as their skills, likes and what area they need to concentrate on to improve and flourish. I encourage all students to choose music they like and help them achieve their goal of playing that song, style or genre.
LESSON STYLE
When students are being lazy I call them out on it by saying something like, "What is that?" It shakes them up and makes them realize I catch every mistake. It's done in a lighthearted way so that the students feel comfortable with me as I do not want to drive away students who fear their teacher. Comfort and discipline are imperative to help them achieve their goals. If a student feels comfortable with their instrument they are more willing to practice and achieve a higher goal of performance.
