I am an instructor of the guitar and bass and have been teaching since 1980. I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 1980 and have been involved in many playing situations, ensembles and recording sessions. My range of experience enables me to give the best teaching experience to my students, and I love seeing my students progress in their techniques and master the instrument.
I started teaching after graduating from Berklee College of Music in 1980. I've been playing since I was 12 years old and love what I do! If a student has never played, I can teach them the foundational techniques to accomplish all they want to learn and stay motivated to play. I teach students of all ages and use a range of many styles.
I give a very good foundational approach to the learning experience. For example, I teach students how to find the notes on the guitar and the bass. From there on the guitar, I teach the open string chords. On the bass, I give fingering exercises and patterns to work on. With the chords, we look at simple songs to play. On the bass I show them how the bass lines work with songs. There is a lot more to this process, and it doesn't stop there.
I let each student progress at their own pace and give realistic goals for practice between lessons. You will see results immediately which will encourage and motivate you to keep going. Taking a student from not knowing anything to actually being able to play music is very rewarding and inspiring, and that's why I love what I do!
