Overview:
With a lifelong passion for rhythm and a dedication to musical excellence, I have been captivating audiences and perfecting my drumming skills since the tender age of five. My musical journey began with the snare drum, and I quickly developed a proficiency that allowed me to perform in front of audiences as early as fifth grade. Throughout middle and high school, I honed my abilities on a variety of percussion instruments, including the snare, bass, and quads, as a valued member of my school's band programs. Driven by a desire to share my love of music with others, I embarked on a professional music career in my early twenties. I formed a cover band to gain experience and earn extra income, while simultaneously pursuing my passion for blues and rock music. My dedication and talent led me to join a professional blues/rock band, where I had the privilege of touring the East Coast and opening for renowned blues artists.
EXPERIENCE
While pursuing my musical aspirations, I also recognized the importance of education. I earned a Master's degree in Public Marketing, which equipped me with the knowledge and skills to make a positive impact. My diverse background and expertise led me to a unique opportunity to work for the History Channel series "Road Hauks," where I contributed to a captivating program that explored the fascinating world of offroad trucking. Throughout my musical journey, I have never lost sight of my passion for teaching. I have dedicated myself to sharing my knowledge and love of drumming with children and adults of all ages and skill levels. My teaching studio provides a welcoming and supportive environment where students can learn proper technique, develop their musicality, and discover the joy of playing the drums. I am committed to providing my students with a well-rounded and comprehensive drumming education. I tailor my instruction to each individual's needs and goals, ensuring that they receive the personalized attention and guidance they need to thrive. My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that music is a powerful tool for self-expression, creativity, and personal growth. I am passionate about helping my students develop their musical talents and unlock their full potential.
METHODS USED
My teaching method goes beyond just technique; it's about unlocking the inherent creativity and therapeutic potential within each student. I believe the drums can be a powerful tool for self-expression and personal growth, and I encourage my students to explore this aspect of their musical journey. While I guide them through a comprehensive curriculum covering diverse styles like rock, blues, jazz, and funk, my emphasis is on fostering a deep connection with the instrument. I want my students to discover their own voice on the drums, to find their own rhythms and express themselves authentically. Technical proficiency is important, of course, but it's only one part of the equation. I believe in nurturing a love of music that goes hand-in-hand with technical skills. By encouraging exploration and experimentation, I help my students tap into their creativity and discover the therapeutic power of drumming. It's about finding joy in the process, building confidence, and using the drums as a means of self-discovery.
LESSON STYLE
My teaching style is built upon a foundation of personalized instruction, structured learning, and unwavering support. I believe in fostering a love of music while nurturing confidence and self-belief in every student. This is achieved through a combination of: Customized Lesson Plans: I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I create custom lesson plans tailored to each student's individual needs, goals, and learning style. This ensures that they are consistently challenged and engaged, making progress with every lesson. Weekly Practice and Reinforcement: Consistent practice is key to musical development. I provide weekly instruction and assignments designed to reinforce concepts covered during lessons and encourage regular engagement with the instrument. This structured approach fosters discipline and helps students develop a strong foundation in drumming. Building Confidence Through Achievement: I believe in setting achievable goals and celebrating successes, no matter how small. Each lesson is designed to build upon the previous one, allowing students to experience a sense of accomplishment and grow in confidence with every step forward. I provide positive reinforcement and constructive feedback to encourage continuous improvement and foster a belief in their own abilities. Core Values: My teaching philosophy is centered around three core values: Commitment: I encourage students to dedicate themselves to the learning process and embrace the challenges that come with mastering a new skill. Excitement: I strive to make learning fun and engaging, fostering a love of music that will last a lifetime. Growth: I believe in the potential of every student and am committed to helping them develop their skills, expand their musical horizons, and reach their full potential. My ultimate goal is to empower students to become confident, expressive drummers who enjoy a lifelong relationship with music. I believe that through personalized instruction, consistent practice, and a focus on building self-belief, every student can achieve their musical aspirations.

Michael B is an incredible drummer! I have had the fortune to see him play-out with bands quite a few times. AND I have also had the fortune to have him teach me the correct way to play a Cow Bell during one of his shows. I was actually called up to do so, and Michael B was very patient, and took his time to show me how to play; and how to keep a proper beat. I would highly recommend Michael B as an instructor!
