Overview:
In 2013, I graduated with a Bachelor's in Music from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Peck School of the Arts. I honed my craft of private teaching and also specializing in Balkan folk works, arranged for flute and secondary woodwinds. In 2019, I extended these skills over into Vocalism: singing, beatboxing, rapping, and spoken word. Ergo, my best work to date is an original composition called "LatinAmerica". There, I looped my original flute samples, singing, beatboxing, and minimal electronic effects onto my Boss Rolland RC 505 tabletop loop station. Also in 2019, I finished my Master of Art in Teaching and Leadership from Notre Dame of Maryland University (I've resided in Baltimore City for 8 years!) I am equally comfortable on the concert stage and gig floor, as I am in classroom and studio. My studio experience and space are convenient for a beginner, as well as an adult!
EXPERIENCE
I began teaching privately in the greater Milwaukee area in 2012. With my help and motivation, a fifth grader decided to keep his flute and play in his beginning band, despite his families' circumstances. Later, I picked up an interested eighth grader, who eventually received a Gold at regional solo contest and also made the all-state band. Motivation, "keeping it real", and an upbeat attitude have continued to yield personal and academic results in my studio. Constructive criticism, patience, and being able to "fit in my students' shoes" are all perks of studying with me.
METHODS USED

My materials and methods differ depending on the pupil's age/ability.  For a young 11 year old beginner, homework assignments will begin with the instrument itself, and then eventually Book One of any method book desired.  Popular practice dictates good results with books like Yamaha and Standard of Excellence.  For middle-level ability (middle school / early high school), the Rubank series is perfect.  Finally, with middle and above levels; solos, ensemble work, duets, and additional etude books will be used.

LESSON STYLE
With the current economic climate for public and private education, the demand for superb teachers is at an all-time high; I truly believe this is my calling and highest skill set. My perseverance and passion utilized throughout my personal education prove excellent results in the studio. I treat each student as an individual instead of just another number. I have 5 years full-time music classroom teaching experience under my belt. I have demonstrated patience, passion, careful planning, careful implementation, and proper assessment of objectives / skill mastery. I have made sure to transfer all of these skills to my private teaching. I am very direct with my students and act as facilitator in lesson discussions, and to try not making decisions for them. I heavily employ the "trial by fire" and "sink or swim" methods, as I've found those the most effective in my lifetime of learning new things. However, I am flexible in going back and reteaching and remodeling, as long as we still keep our "eyes on the prize", whether that be personal rewards, scholastic musical awards, musical career advancement, music therapy approach/feelings, etc.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
