Overview:
I am an open-minded, versatile, patient, and outgoing teacher who loves seeing students improve and get more comfortable with their own style. In 2011, I graduated from Berklee College of Music in Professional Music for Voice. Growing up on a sailboat in the Caribbean gave me exposure to a lot of genres of music and many languages. Both of my parents are musicians, and music has always been part of our lives. I started taking piano and guitar lessons at age 13. Since then, I have been exposed to even more styles and cultures by performing and travelling internationally (Middle East, Asia, Europe, USA, Caribbean). Two years ago, Daisy Rock Guitars (my favorite guitar brand since I was 16), gave me a full endorsement deal.
EXPERIENCE
Growing up, I always had the "teacher gene:" I was the little kid teaching all the other kids everything I knew. Tutoring came naturally, of course, and when I graduated high school, I gave after-class lessons at a school in all sorts of subjects. When I was in college, I started teaching voice and music theory in a volunteer program that helps high-school students from underserved communities. After taking a few vocal pedagogy and music education classes, I started taking on my own private students. My last year of college, I interned at a "Parent and Me" music school (for toddlers, babies, and young children); and I got hired there after graduation. I have since worked at a few music schools, and I currently teach a college vocal lab.
METHODS USED
My philosophy is that the lessons should be personalised around the students needs and interests.  For voice, I work on vocal technique with my students, and on how to apply it to whatever style they like.  For piano, I like to work with the Alfred's piano books, gradually adding repertoire that matches their ability level, and can yet be fun. I have a few Faber and Alfred books for ideas of repertoire, but I also like to just let the student chose what songs they'd like to play, so that it's more interesting for the both of us!
LESSON STYLE
Each student's talent is very unique, and so is their learning style: some people are more visual learners, some are kinesthetic, while others prefer to learn by ear. I make a point to insure that every single student "gets it," no matter what their favorite method is.  I always incorporate music they love into the lessons, so I can teach them general music concepts through what they already know and have an interest in. I find that it helps triggering inspiration.  Working with realistic short and long-term goals is a technique I use to encouage and motivate my students to practice, and incorporate

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
