Overview:
I began formal piano instruction at age 5, continuing into my late teens, and again in adulthood. I have been fortunate to accompany ensembles, vocal soloists, choirs, Holiday parties, community events, so therefore am able to teach others from my experiences. I have hosted many recitals with my students that like to participate. My knowledge has shaped this incredible passion for music that I have. Having successfully owned/operated my own studio, teaching private piano, music/arts/crafts, held recitals, for 30 years. While I can play multple instruments, my expertise lies in the piano arena. My enthusiasm for teaching is a gift that I am able to share. I enjoy people of all ages!
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience success is supported by my reputation, performance, fun-loving/positive approach establishing sound ground for success. I believe contouring each lesson to support one's learning style is imperative. Owning and operating a piano studio for 30 years, is a compliment to my dedication and passion for teaching. Music has been a huge component of my entire life. I feel sharing my love of music, with an individual that desires to learn, is my privilege. I choose to offer a lesson that will inevitably enhance the next.
METHODS USED
I feel it is important to address each students learning style on an individual level. For young children and beginner's, I pull from resources that encourage basic fundamentals, not inclusive or limited to, Bastein, Alfred, Faber & Faber, and Hal Leonard. According to one's ability and interest, Hanon, Sonatina's Sonata's, familiar and classic's, are encouraged. Different genre's are used as part of performance and support in teaching a theory, technic, ear/sight reading, or performance application. Composer highlights are always fun. I am engaging with my student, constantly assessing their strengths, and interests, to support the best learning opportunity for them. I use supplemental worksheets, games, musical instruments, and stories to individualize a lesson. I freely give positive reinforcement, awards, and certificates.
LESSON STYLE
My teaching style reflects how important it is to embrace every moment with a student as though they are my only student; taing into account each personality and ability. I can usually connect with an individual , assessing where to begin. A huge compliment to me, is when a past student enrolls their child/grandchild in lessons because of their prior experience with me. I am gentle, but teach self discipline, and all necessary fundamentals for their progress. I love to teach! My style is effective and fun.
