Lower Columbia College - Music Companionship and Audio Technology
2004 - Awarded Certificate for Musical Excellence, Oregon, USA. 2009 - Began my own business as a Music Instructor, teaching beginning drum/percussion and guitar lessons.
From the Pacific Northwest, I am a very passionate, professional and diverse musician, who has a passion for seeing others learn music and having fun doing so. I have been teaching guitar for over 5 years, and have been an active musician for over 15 years. Throughout those 15 years, I have performed, recorded, and "gigged" with many different bands and projects, from independent record labels to church worship, to producers and bands of different musical styles.
When I was about 19 years old, I began teaching independently from my parents' home in NW Oregon. I discovered I had a unique knack for communicating with younger generations and the feeling of seeing someone learning music was incredible! Since then, I have taught all different ages and different styles. I work one-on-one with you or your child, in a safe and fun environment, while we learn whatever it is you want to learn!
For a much younger player, I often introduce them to many different players and styles of playing - Examples being some of the most well-known guitarists, such as Jimmy Page, Angus Young, Eric Clapton - all the greats! After I get a general idea of what someone digs or what style interests them the most, we move on from there with music theory and different exercises to develop their playing. For someone older, I'll often have you give me a brief background on what interests you in guitar, your previous musical experience, and what music you enjoy the most. From there, I'll show you techniques to help you develop your own approach to that style/genre, and give you different exercises of your own to work on, while improving your music theory.
First and foremost - It has to be FUN! Often times, that's a cliche' statement. But it's true. If you're not having fun or digging the groove, it's going to make learning your instrument very difficult. As far as an average lesson, we'll be learning in a fun, relaxed and informative interaction. We'll take the lessons at any comfortable pace or level that suits you, we'll play together, share some music with each other, and hey! We might even learn a little something or two!
