I am a passionate and motivated instructor and music performer and I am confident that my academic background and performance experience would be successfully utilized in this teaching position. I have a Masters of Music degree in Vocal Performance from The Royal Danish Academy of Music and a Bachelors of Music from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University. I began my vocal private studio while working on my Masters degree in Copenhagen in 2007. As a performer I have had the opportunity to work with companies such as Opera Naples, Gulfshore Opera, Miami Lyric Opera, Sobe Arts, Miami International Piano Festival, Orchestra Miami, Symphony of the Americas, Miami Symphony Orchestra, Emerald City Opera, Miami Opera Institute, Florida Chamber Orchestra, Russian Opera Workshop, Danish Radio Choir and Orchestra, Royal Danish Academy Choir and Orchestra and the Amager Music Festival to name a few.
I began my vocal private studio while working on my Masters degree in Copenhagen in 2007. Since then I have maintained an active studio in various cities including Miami and New York City with students of all ages and levels of experience. Instruction in all genres including Pop, Jazz, Classical and Musical Theatre while maintaining our focus on proper vocal technique and good musicianship. I also worked as the main vocal instructor, choral director and music teacher at the Roxy Performing Arts Center in Miami, Florida from 2009 to 2013. I assisted them in developing a vocal music curriculum and increased student enrollment in choral and musical theatre classes. Taught private voice lessons to all ages and levels of experience, conducted choral ensembles, taught theory, ear training and repertoire classes.
Classes are broken down into three sections 1. breathing and body exercises 2. vocal exercises 3. repertoire and style. In the breathing and body exercises we discuss the idea of breathing for singing and proper vocal support. This is fundamental to good vocal technique and is the basis for everything that we will be working on achieving with our voice. In the vocal exercises section we will engage in various vocal sounds using scales and arpeggios. This will help to warm up the voice so that proper vocal function can occur and it will also aid me in learning more about your particular and special instrument. Everyone's voice is unique and special and this is when we learn about how your voice naturally functions and what are your strengths etc In the repertoire section we will practice songs in various styles or the desired style that the student wishes to master. The repertoire will be chosen based on level and ability.
I love working with students in helping them achieve their goals and dreams! There's is nothing more rewarding than helping others express themselves through music and more specifically vocal music!
