Recent transplant to Birmingham – glad to be back in the south. Twenty years of playing experience, and 10+ years of teaching experience. Looking forward to working with you! I've played in churches for the better part of twenty years. I've also played in restaurants for several years, and at weddings and other special events. I can teach lessons in your home or at the Avon Theater (in Lakeview, near St. Vincent's).
I've taught guitar and bass in a variety of settings – a community music school, from my home, and in churches.
I really enjoy teaching theory on the fretboard, and exploring chord construction is one of my favorite moderate/intermediate topics. In general, I'm a strengths-based, metaphor-heavy teacher, looking for ways to connect students with the material.
I come into a lesson with a plan, but I try to engage students in a individual manner that keeps them interested and growing.
