Born in Tehran, Nava P. started her musical training at the age of 10. After years of training, she later moved to the United States to pursue her passion at the University of Utah under the guidance of Professor Caitlyn Valovick Moore (Piccolo Player in the Utah Symphony) and Lisa Byrnes (Associate Principal Flute in the Utah Symphony) on the Matthews Music Scholarship and the Gochnour Flute Scholarship. Nava was the recipient of the most prestigious music award, the Presser Undergrad Scholar Award, for the 2019-2020 academic year at the University of Utah. She also completed her undergrad degree in flute performance there. Moving Forward, Nava has trained under world-renowned soloist Mimi Stillman at Temple University and starting Fall 2022, she will be continuing her masters in Flute Performance with Professor Janet Arms under John Cali Music Scholarship at Montclair State University. Teaching and Performing Music in my passion in life. We all know that everyone is unique and therefore their learning strategies are different. From my perspective, a good teacher is the one that above being kind, caring, and extremely patient should be very encouraging. Nothing is more important than having fun and enjoying playing and performing during music lessons. I want the best for my students and I am willing to take the time to teach them the fundamentals of playing the flute such as breath control, flute techniques, beautiful sound, etc.
