Overview:
Neil Garrard is a guitarist/singer/songwriter/producer from Atlanta, Georgia. EXPERIENCE
I have taught all skill levels for five years and it is something I will always enjoyed doing. I am aware that no two people play or learn the same way, and I will always make sure the student gets what they want out of the instrument. It has always been important to me to make each lesson fun and something the student looks forward to, rather than it become a hindrance if they are not at the skill level they desire to be. I always encourage my students to find their own style in guitar once the fundamentals are understood, and even enjoy helping with their own music they compose as well. Whether the guitar is played as a hobby or a form of expression, I will make sure they are getting the most out of their instrument by teaching them everything they need and want to know.
METHODS USED
For beginning students who are children, I like to start them with the "Guitar Method for Young Beginners Series" and then into the "Progressive Rhythm Guitar". Even while a student is learning the fundamentals, there are songs that can be taught at every skill level to keep each lesson fun. Once the basic understanding of chords,modes,scales etc are understood, then the student will be taught any style desired, along with any help requested in any other aspect. The student always learns at an accelerated rate when right teacher advises them and that is my main goal every lesson.
LESSON STYLE
I am a motivated instructor that teaches with positive reinforcement and will always make the lesson fun and productive. Every student learns at their own pace and I will teach accordingly so the student is never overwhelmed or discouraged. It is also crucial that I make sure the student understands why certain aspects of guitar theory exist, (scales,modes etc) so they know their importance and how it will be applied in future. I like to teach in a very efficient and effective manner, but also with complete patience and welcoming of any questions the student may have.
