Florida State University 2014 - Music Scholarship, Florida State University

Overview:
I am a motivated teacher who is committed to ensuring the success of all students. If you are a beginner, I can help you achieve a reliable foundation of musicality and technique. If you are an advanced student, I can help you refine your musicality, improve your technique, and win auditions. I have experience in music education, I have performed all over the country as a violinist and conductor, and I have a wide range of musical interests. I would like to see serious students who are dedicated to getting better.
EXPERIENCE
I have a wide range of experience in teaching music. I have taught over a dozen students through my personal music studio at Florida State University, and many of them have gone on to win auditions at the university level. I have taught beginners solid fundamental skills and I have taught advanced students to refine their musicianship and their technique. Much of my experience comes from the classroom: I completed my student teaching at the Florida State University Schools, and I taught five classes full time. I also have experience teaching music for church at First Baptist Church of Tallahassee.
METHODS USED
I typically use a combination of Suzuki and Essential Elements for beginner students. I worked extensively with the widow of the author of Essential Elements, and I understand how to implement the strategies for optimal success. For intermediate students, I typically use a combination of Suzuki, scale books, and etude books. to ensure success. My main goal is to continue to build a good foundation for more advanced musical endeavors. For advanced students, I typically prefer a more collaborative approach. I believe it is important for students to pick music that interests them, but I also guarantee that the music is appropriate for their level. I also guide advanced students through scale books, etudes, repertoire, and other advanced studies.
LESSON STYLE
My main goal in teaching music is to build a good foundation. Not all music students will go on to major in music, and that's OK. Music offers invaluable experiences for everybody involved, and I have seen music change lives. There is a lot of evidence that music helps in school performance and test taking, and there is evidence that music helps to build organizational and critical thinking skills. I like to build a positive relationship with my students, and I encourage progress in order to make students eager to learn more. I can tailor my instruction to individual needs.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
