Overview:
I am a passionate musician and teacher who loves working with new violinists. There is nothing greater than seeing a child (or adult) begin the musical journey. In 2007, I graduated from SUNY Fredonia with a Bachelors of Arts after spending four years in intesive violin studies. I am fortunate to have performed with many chamber orchestras and quartets over the years.
I think my success as a violin teacher is owed to my creative approach to lessons. For younger students, I like to make games to incorporate learning and to make learning fun.

For older and more advanced students I am able to zero in on problem areas and target the cause. Finding solutions is my specialty.
EXPERIENCE
I began teaching in 2003, right at the beginning of my college studies. I taught in several after school programs in upstate New York, and organized many student recitals. I encourage daily practice, as this gives students a chance to become comfortable with the violin much more quickly, and I make listening to music a part of each students normal routine so they can strengthen their desire to learn.
I have been teaching privately since 2003, and have also served as a violin coach for more advanced students. I truly look forward to working with you in the near future!
METHODS USED
I usually start my violin students with Essential Elements books, and draw some technical points of beginning lessons from Suzuki method. I like to start students on a real piece of music as soon as possible so they can get a sense of accomplishment sooner than later. For adults, I am more flexible and will ask what it is they would like to learn, then I will use many of the same beginning techniques tailored for their own musical goals. Each of my students gets a journal to record weekly practice notes.
LESSON STYLE
Most importantly, learning violin should be fun. In my lessons, my students will find a variety of rhythm games and activities. I am not just teaching violin, but music as a whole. I feel that music appreciation needs to be built into violin lessons. I will share pop and classical music with students, show them live performance videos, and encourage them to experiment with their own natural abilities. I am a big communicator when teaching beginning students. I make sure that they feel comfortable asking questions and voicing their difficulties throughout the whole process so I can help them find solutions that make sense for them.
