BM, Fisk Universtiy, Vocal Performance
I am a spirited and passionate instructor who loves all things music. I studied Vocal music at Fisk University. I have performed with artists from many different genres, including Kid Rock and Mandisa Hundley. I have been blessed with the opportunity to perfom all over the country as well as internationally. I believe that music is the greatest language and that everyone should learn to speak it. I was born with music inside me. Music is one of my parts. It's no different than my lungs, feet, or my heart. It is just as necessary to me as food and water and was a force already within me when I arrived on the scene. Music isn’t just what I do...it’s who I am. I hope to one day inspire those who have an appreciation and love for music to have the same appreciation and love for how it [music] works.
I"ve been teaching professionally for about 3 years now, but I've been in front of students for the past 10 years. Wether it be in a sunday School class or a daycare teaching ABC's, teaching has always been my passion. Nothing is more satisfying than when a student understands and LOVES the subject matter, especially in the music arena.
No two students are the same. I pride myself on catering to each individuals need and desire. I do give every student the same basic foundation, but after the foundation is set, the continued direction is entirely up to the student [parent]. In previous years, I've had students who wanted to be the next Beyonce, some who need better technique, and some who just wanted to build upon what they already had. Whatever the student's desire, it's my job, and my pleasure to see that it comes to fruition.

An instructor can only do but so much, it is the student's job, as well as the parent's, to take all the lessons learned and apply them outside of the learning environment.
