I'm an open minded teacher and musician whose aim is sharing his skills and experience in order to give his students one more inspiration. I started with the classical guitar in 1994 and attended the Music School in Garlasco (PV), Italy, earning a merit certificate. After some years being self-taught, I attended the Lizard Academy and took lessons from teacher Fabio Casali, a Jazz musician, and I earned a merit certificate. Before moving to the United States I took classes from another teacher of the CPM in Milan, who helped me correct my mistakes. I think there's always something to learn or to correct. In the meantime I played and recorded some demos with different bands, an experience that certainly enriched me as a guitar player and gave me some personal satisfaction like being in a band recommended by a Heavy Metal magazine called Metal Shock.
I started to privately teach in the year 2003 in Italy, in my house. I always encourage my students to ask any question whenever they felt the need, and to constantly practice at home in order to get better and maintain their desire to learn something new. Despite teaching Rock music, and more precisely Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, I like my students to be open minded and learn as much as possible about different kinds of music because I think that a great musician is able to play anything. I like to encourage my students to join or form new bands and play their own music, even with people that are better than them, because it can be stimulating. Moreover, I like them to share their experience with me so I can concretely check their motivations and their improvements with the instrument.
For young beginners, I usually start with basic theory notions taken from the Lizard Academy books, combined with some exercises on the guitar. Once comfortable, I start to introduce some notions about improvisation and soloing, as well as increase the difficulty of the exercises I want them to practice on. For young adults or adults, I like to take my students in the direction they want to go, besides teaching them something slightly different just to enrich their background. I also like to focus on their difficulties and eventual mistakes to correct them and help them pull through.
My biggest satisfaction when I teach is seeing my students getting better and maintaining their interest, passion, and desire. Once in a while I like to push them or tell them to push themselves, find new challenges, and dare a little more. New challenges bring new goals, and new goals make them keep their eagerness to learn. Since my key point is "be open-minded", I always try to make their interest and needs parallel with my instructions.
