Bachelor Degree: University of California
Hi, I am a highly passionate and devoted instructor. Music has captivated my mind and imagination all of my life, so having the opportunity to teach an instrument, music theory, and talk about music is something I genuinely cherish. I graduated from the University of California, San Diego in June of 2023, and have been working as a guitar instructor for just about 3 years now. I have spent 11 years with the guitar, and even spent 6 years as part of an advanced choir before college. These two experiences have given me a well balanced outlook on how to approach becoming a musician.
My teaching experience began during my time spent as an undergraduate in college. Since then, I have become increasingly dedicated and engaged with my commitment to teaching students music / guitar. Consistent practice and commitment to the instrument is always something I encourage in students, something I believe comes naturally when students find themselves constantly enjoying/having fun learning/playing the instrument. Above all, I do believe that having fun while learning an instrument is not only ideal, but necessary.
My teaching methods can be defined by a few words … patient, fun, and above all, flexible. I believe maintaining great flexibility is the greatest way of making sure a student is not only learning at a great pace, but enjoying their journey as well. As this is the case, I create individual custom lesson plans for every single student I teach. For example, with younger students, I will generally try to make sure they are engaged and having as much fun as possible learning the instrument, this could come in the form of focusing on (at first) popular riffs or songs that the student would know and enjoy learning.
Nothing is better than seeing consistent progression of my students, while seeing their passion for music develop simultaneously. Every student has a different path and journey to learning their instrument, and it is my job to help guide them down that new path, something that is greatly rewarding for both parties. Instilling confidence into students is something I absolutely always strive to do day in and day out, as providing a positive, supportive, and patient environment is something that greatly benefits students.
