I began giving private guitar lessons 5 years ago, in 2018. Since then I have taught both privately and at music studios. Classical guitar is my expertise, I earned both a Masters and Bachelors degree in Classical Guitar Performance at the University of Cincinnati, where I served as a Teacher's Assistant and taught multiple guitar courses. I have performed many different types of music on different instruments, including guitar, ukulele, bass, theorbo, Baroque guitar, and mandolin. Though I specialize in classical music, I have extensive experience in pop, rock, and country. I played lead guitar in a rock cover band in 2017/2018.
- Beginners will start with "Alfred's Basic Guitar Method" (Bass and Ukulele students will use the Alfred's book that applies to their instrument). Once a solid foundation is established, we will branch out into music that the student is interested in playing. - Classical Guitar students will use Charles Duncan's "A Modern Approach to Classical Guitar." - Intermediate and Advanced students will learn what they are interested in - rock/pop/country/etc. - Intermediate and Advanced students will also learn music theory and scales, at least at a basic level. I am happy to teach advanced music theory if the student is interested.
I teach guitarists at all levels, from complete beginners to professional musicians looking to try out a new instrument. I make lessons as informative as possible, but music is supposed to be fun. If you aren't enjoying our lessons, just tell me! I am always willing to try new things to keep my students engaged and happy. Everyone is different, I will do everything I can to teach in a manner that is efficient and enjoyable for you. Learning an instrument is more than just playing music, it teaches discipline and perseverance. I love playing music and I do everything I can to make sure my students feel the same way!
