I've studied and performed a wide varity of music: jazz, blues, funk, soul, reggae, zydeco, West African/Zimbabwaen, Middle Eastern, gospel, classical, rock, pop, folk, country... I've done dozens of recordings and play thousands of shows. I'm all about helping the student learn how to play their instrument and make music that they want to make.
I've been teaching lessons since I was in high school in the 80s. I've worked with all kinds of players. I'm pretty intense and love making music.
I like to use a fundamental approach so the student can read and play written music as well as learn to play by ear so they might actually get out of the classroom and into a band.
I've very goal oriented. I want to have a direction to steer the student towards. No point in teaching reggae parts to somebody who wants to play classical music. Most of it is a little bit of good sense, a little bit of exploring some different kinds of music and a little bit of practice.
Noah is fantastic! Patient and has high expectations. My daughter really looks forward to her saxophone lessons.
