- Successful audition into the Army Band (2017)
Noah began his music career at 5 years old while growing up in the Blue Ridge Mountains. While there he found himself exposed to a vast amount of genres and influences including the blues, bluegrass, and all sorts of Folk. As a result, it was only natural to be attracted to the guitar and other folk instruments such as banjo. Noah began taking lessons when he was 5 years old and moved on up to middle school and high school jazz bands when the time came. Once in college, he began to create multiple touring projects, collegiate jazz bands and finally became a professional musician once he successfully auditioned for the Army Band. He is now studying with David Case for classical guitar and is using his composition studies with Will Johnson for other projects.
My experience with teaching begins when I was 19. I applied for a music studio in Santa Rosa, California who ended up reading my resume incorrectly which prompted me an interview. I explained the mistake, but they found me to have great interpersonal skills and talent with teaching. The studio was geared for younger students, and since I have 6 siblings who are all under 12, they found me to be a perfect fit. While I was there I had over 20 private students over the course of a year and taught several group classes as well. I fell in love with teaching that year, and am looking forward to continuing that passion for helping bring music into the world.
My methods vary. It depends on what you are looking for with music. I will always set everyone up with the proper techniques and fundamentals, but after that, it is up to you. If you want to become a professional touring musician I will set you on a proper track. If you are looking to be a hobbyist and only want to learn one or two styles while with me, we can arrange that as well. But while being a student of mine you will be learning theory, and composition techniques to help improve your musical vocabulary.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a student find a love for music. Therefore it is my goal to teach students at there pace. I have been burned out before with music lessons and will definitely be avoiding that. I encourage by setting goals and helping you achieve them all while helping you discover a musical talent you may not have known existed. It will help you, the student, become a more competent musician and more inspired to practice your instrument even more. My lessons will encourage, inspire, and of course, teach you how to play your instrument.
