Overview:
Hi! My name is Noelle and I am an Arts Education Advocate who LOVES to sing and help others to evolve as storytellers while they develop healthy life long vocals. I have taught globally including Africa, on both coasts including NYC and So Cal. I have a BA in VPA: Music, Theatre and Arts Ed and I currently am a Music Teacher for Carlsbad Unified School District where I also am training a long term sub and asked to work events. I am a Musical Theatre Director and have taken part in Lincoln Center's Director's Lab West and Broadway Teachers Workshop. I believe in evolving each day as a life long learner. I look forward to meeting and teaching you!
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience dates back to my childhood in ministry and then at sixteen I had the opportunity to direct at school and to found and direct a Musical Theatre Ministry at church. As I continued to direct and teach both Music and Musical Theatre in college and as a professional I decided to take on private students in 2005 and have loved every moment of teaching my private students. I have taught the novice to the professional with both Broadway and UK Pop Chart credits. Consistent lessons are essential for vocal development as the muscle needs to properly develop, remain limber and be protected. Weekly lessons also allows for comfort and the joy of learning! Students are encouraged to audition for Musical Theatre productions where we prep their Auditions, Callbacks and show content. Students are also encouraged to enter competitions, cabarets, and open mics so they have regular performance opportunities to grow and accomplish their goals. I enjoy teaching students of all ages and look forward to teaching you!
METHODS USED
I assess each student in their first lesson to see their entrance level and motivation. From there we discuss goals and I cater each lesson for each student. For children and teens it is usually to feel confident singing, prepping auditions and performances. They usually have a lot of motivation and a willingness to take risks and know they are being taught in a safe space to explore. Adults usually come in for confidence, to sing on key in front of their friends to professionals who need an extra ear to refine their instrument and skills. Each is so individual and no matter how focused we are there is an element of fun to enjoy the lessons!
LESSON STYLE
Since we are all individuals with our own stories to tell, our own desires and goals and our own way of developing it is essential to teach a lesson where each student evolves at their own pace with my guidance and encouragement. We set goals and work on their vocal books which can be used for any audition, performance or personal events. Students are eager to learn when they know they are able to choose their material while also knowing I will challenge them with my selections as well. They usually end up adoring my selections surprising themselves they are able to sing what I believe they can. We really enjoy our time together!
