I am a singer/songwriter/producer. I started teaching vocals due to the high amount of inquiries for lessons by my fans and their parents.
I am proud to have lived in New York and to have supported myself solely with earnings from teaching live performances and private vocal instructions. I had an original band and I established my own record label. Currently I reside in Los Angeles, California where I slowed down on gigging and devoting myself to family. I still produce music. The West coast has been more than welcoming with the warm and relaxed people I met here.
EXPERIENCE
I started teaching in New York after my fans started asking for lessons. All students agree on one thing: their singing definitely improved. Some of my students ended up on X Factor and The Voice. I can prepare you or your child for singing castings not only with the vocal technique but with the repertoire as well.
I tend to be very straight forward and honest about a student's musical abilities and would never mislead a person into continuing with music if he/she doesn't demonstrate prominent skills.
METHODS USED
Here is how we will progress:
1. Warm up with exercises for intonation, rhythm, breathing and learning to sustain a long note. A good singer must be able to hold a long note.
2. Vocal technique - Learn the song correctly - vowels and mouth opening, melody
3. Emotional delivery (adding soul to your style)
4. Stage presence (body language - eyes, hands, legs position, facial expression)
5. Improvisation (add-libbing skills)
6. Microphone technique - final stage (only for finished song - student must know it by heart)
7. Recording of the learnt song (additional cost)
LESSON STYLE
When I teach, I treat you like a colleague and I require your full attention during the 30-60 min class. Singing takes a lot of discipline, sweat and abdominal work (for the high notes). If you are aiming for the stars, you need to be trained like one.
I can make you understand how voice projection works, so you know how to best use your voice and protect it. Every student progresses at their own pace.
You get as much information as you can absorb.
Every song is polished to the smallest detail, focusing on overcoming all vocal challenges while specifically emphasizing on emotional delivery. After the melody a and the lyrics are well learned, we will work on improvisational skills (add-libbing).
