I'm an passionate and enthusiastic music teacher. Music is the passion of my life, and I always want to share it with young children. Currently, I'm pursuing a AA degree in Piano Performance at El Camino College. I will transfer to University and get my Bachelor degree in Piano Performance in the future. In my life as a musician, I have had the opportunity to perform in the Choir at Carnegie Hall in New York, as well as performing in many concerts at school and local churches. Teaching music is the passion of my life, thus I want to share my love of music and my talent with everyone.
I began to teach piano 3 years ago. In those three years, I have been working with a lot of young children and gain many experience in teaching piano. I have found that motivation and determination are the most important factors which help my student make progress. Therefore, I always try to figure out what my students really like to play and to learn, so that it can motivate them to practice the instrument better. Moreover, I often encourage my student to maintain their practice routine, as it tends to help the student develop the strength for fingers and techniques.
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Music for Little Mozart, Alfred Premier Piano Course, or Faber Piano Adventures. Once the student has progressed to have grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for them. For adults, I try to find out what they are interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun. I especially encourage my students to practice four to five hours per day, because it helps the students to develop techniques and strength for fingers.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music. Therefore, it's important that each students progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson, and try to find out what inspires my students. Once I know what makes my student eager to learn more, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Moreover, motivation and determination are the most important factor in learning music. Therefore, I always assign my students the piece that they love and eager to play.
