In 1996, I won first prize in the Moscow’s “Bella Voce Vocal Competition” and, in 1999, won their grand prize. In 2000 I received a Special Award at the International Bulbul Vocal Competition in Baku. In 2002, I participated in San Francisco Opera Center Merola Opera Program for young singers and sang Musetta with Western Opera on tour. The most memorable moments of my career include performing Aida with Teatro Massimo Palermo, Requiem Verdi on stage of Academy of Santa Cecilia in Vatican and in Kennedy Center, performing as a principal soloist with Bolshoi Opera Theatre in Moscow.
EXPERIENCE
I have a long history of voice, theory of music and piano teaching from the beginning of my singing career. I come from family of teachers and musicians and feel that despite of my love for stage, teaching is my true destination. Even while I was very busy performing internationally, I always enjoyed teaching, and took time to accumulate as much as possible of knowledge and experience in order to prepare myself for the next and very important step in my life – becoming a voice teacher.
METHODS USED
In my studio I treat the voice as a reflection of the soul. Each person has beautiful soul, each voice can, and should be beautiful, and strong. No matter what style of music my students are interested in the most, in the 1st place comes strong vocal technique. It opens new horizons for creativity and self expression as a musician and as an artist. Development of musical taste is also very important.
LESSON STYLE
My lesson is divided in 2 parts. Warm up - it consists of very important excercises that cover all the aspects of vocal technique development. Applying all just learned to performing the real music. I care about voice and try to advise to my students musical pieces that are beneficial for their development. My students always welcomed to bring in the music they are passionate about. Pretty often they impress me with their good musical taste and wide range of in interests. In order to be prepared for lessons my students are required to be able to read and learn music by themselves. Some students have musical background, some do not. In this case I teach them basics of music theory.
