I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who has the abilities to "awaken" the musical gifts of students with the desire to achieve a goal of musicianship. I graduated from Grambling State University with a Bachelor of Music Education and a Masters of Music from Jackson State University. I have had the opportunity to play with such symphonies such as the Shreveport Symphony, New Orleans Community Orchestra, Midland/Odessa Symphony, the EAC Symphony and I am now a member of the North Valley Symphony. I look forward in awaking the various skills of students provided to me. Music is not a sometimes thing, it's a all time thing to achieve each day of existence.
My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time. I encourage the student to see it , believe it and achieve all goals that can be set out to be accomplished. Practice on a daily basis is very necessary when gaining the passion for the chosen instrument. My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. I'm always looking to bring on new students of all ages!
For beginning students who are children,I combined the Essential Elements for strings along with the Suzuki Method. I will also introduced the solo repertoire appropriate for scholarships and symphony membership. I also provide materials that will enable individuals, and homogeneous/heterogeneous string groups to build the secure technique so vital to string players who want to express themselves musically. In short, this systematic approach developed by me will improve and be utilized equally well amongst the chosen student of achievement.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace with the encouragement of the teacher to encourage their musical goals with a consistent desire to progress. No two teachers teach in the same way, just as no two students will learn in the same way. A teachers style is based on their educational philosophy. It is important to know that there are two approaches to teaching and they are the direct teaching approach and the formal authority in which both are used to achieve the learning process of the student.
