Professional Certificate: MDCC
I live and love music. I love teaching, I think teaching is the most rewarding profession there is. I started my music education in Las Vegas Nevada with a private teacher. I attended UNLV school of music for two years. I moved to Miami Florida where I obtained a full scholarship from MDCC. After finishing college I started teaching drums and percussion to students of a wide range of ages, from five years old to adults. Aside from teaching, I became the number one recording drummer in the south Florida area. I’ve won two Grammys and countless nominations.
I love sharing my knowledge with my students. There is nothing better than to watch them evolve and grow. There is such joy in watching a student learn and master a particular exercise assigned to him or her. I enjoy teaching at every level, from beginners to advanced. Also, I love the challenge of teaching young students from five to teenagers and the challenges of teaching adults and advanced students. I am a very calm and patient individual and my passion for music keeps me young, there nothing better!!!
My methods of teaching vary depending on the age and skill level of the student. If the student is very young, I start them on simple exercises Designed by me. As they progress, I begin to implement certain books that I’ve used in my career. There are three books I use religiously, Stick Control Ted Reeds syncopation book and N.A.R.D snare drum studies. As the student advances I choose books which will help them achieve the appropriate technique for the appropriate style they want to master. The instructor must be aware and open to every situation.
I love to watch a student progress. It gives me such joy to see them happy. I always evaluate every student and I set for them small and realistic goals. I explain to them that in order to achieve a certain goal you must first obtain the facility by practicing the exercises assigned to them. Sometimes it’s hard for small children to understand why they are doing a certain exercise so I explain to them and show what the drummer is doing on a certain performance they want to emulate and in order to achieve that, they must go through the exercises assigned.
